HondaTrue Certification – How it Works:

Like any certified pre-owned vehicle, a used Honda must meet a number of requirements before it can become certified. Most notably, it will need to pass a background check, making sure nothing is wrong with its history report, and it will also need to pass an extensive 182-point inspection – or a 112-point inspection in the case of the HondaTrue Used tier.

Once a pre-owned Honda passes inspection, it’ll be placed into one of three tiers. These tiers are outlined below.

HondaTrue Used

First up, we have the HondaTrue Used tier. This tier features models from the last decade, they can range anywhere from 2012 to 2022 in terms of model year, and there is no mileage limit. So, whether the Honda has been someone’s daily driver for the better part of the last decade, or it was a vehicle that wasn’t driven very often, it will qualify for coverage.

Under this tier, the Honda will have 100-days/5,000-miles of powertrain coverage and 100-days/5,000-miles of non-powertrain coverage. So, as you get behind the wheel, you’ll have a bit of a safety blanket to make sure everything is working as intended.

HondaTrue Certified

The next step up in this program is the HondaTrue Certified tier. With this tier, the model must have been manufactured from 2017 to 2022 and have less than 80,000 miles on it.

Models within this tier receive an upgrade in warranty coverage, too. As you get behind the wheel, you can relax knowing you’ve got the coverage of whatever is left on the vehicle’s 7-year/100,000-mile powertrain limited warranty. For non-powertrain coverage, you’ll either get the new vehicle limited warranty coverage extended to 4-year/48,000-mile if the car is still covered under the original warranty, or a new 1-year/12,000-mile warranty if the car has no coverage remaining on its original warranty.

HondaTrue Certified+

Last but certainly not least, we have the HondaTrue Certified+ tier. Only models from 2021-2022 with under 12,000 miles qualify for this tier. So, the models under this umbrella are the cream of the crop when it comes to used car quality.

Like the previous tier, HondaTrue Certified+ models will have the new car warranty coverage carry over (7-year/100,000-mile powertrain and 5-year/86,000-mile non-powertrain). Of course, since these cars are newer with much lower mileage, they will have much more warranty coverage remaining.

What’s Constant Between All Three Tiers?

While there are some differences in the models that qualify for these three tiers and the accompanying warranty coverage they receive, there are some great benefits that remains the same for all of them. For example, with each model in this program, you’ll get complimentary roadside assistance in case you end up in a pickle.

• 3-day exchange policy
• Trip interruption
• Concierge service
• SiriusXM
• Zero deductible on repairs

So, no matter which tier you go with, there’s a lot to love.
