2022 Honda Accord Sport’s Interior Features

January 24th, 2022 by

Buyers love the Honda Accord for its affordable price tag, powerful engine options, and ample cabin space for a mid-sized car. This vehicle is an ideal choice whether you’re looking for a family car to meet your daily commuting needs or a car for a weekend trip away.

Choosing from the five trims on offer in the Accord lineup can be tricky, but the Accord Sport is especially attractive. The Sport is the first step up from the base LX trim, which means you get a few additional luxury touches. Here’s a breakdown of the Accord Sport’s top interior features.

Accord Sport Seating

The Accord Sport can accommodate up to five passengers across its two rows of seating. Headroom and legroom are ample in both rows for adult passengers, meaning you can comfortably fit two adults or three kids in the rear row, as well as two adults upfront. Behind the wheel, the driver benefits from a power-adjustable driver’s seat. In the second row, there are two sets of LATCH connectors on the outermost seats for installing kids’ seats.

When it comes to upholstery, you can choose between ivory cloth and black cloth in the Accord Sport. An upgrade package for an additional $4,680 includes heated front seats and a moonroof. The upgrade also gets you a more powerful turbocharged engine under the hood and a 10-speed automatic transmission.

The Accord Sport’s trunk has over 16 cubic feet of storage space, making it one of the largest in the mid-sized sedan segment. If you plan on carrying longer items, you can also fold down the rear row of seats to open up more space. In addition, the trunk lid is wide, making it relatively easy to stow items.

Infotainment and Technology

The centerpiece of the Accord Sport’s entertainment system is an 8-inch screen combined with an eight-speaker stereo. Smartphone compatibility is provided by Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and other connection options include BlueTooth and four USB ports. By linking your phone with Android Auto or Apple CarPlay to Honda’s infotainment system, you can use many of your favorite apps safely while you’re on the go. For example, you can use your phone to get directions to your destination.

If you upgrade to the package with the more powerful engine, you also gain wireless device charging and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The remote start feature is also offered, which can come in handy if you want to adjust your cabin to the perfect temperature before you get into your Accord Sport.

Driver Assistance Features

Honda’s driver assistance package is known as Honda Sensing, and it boasts a wide range of assistive technology in the Accord Sport. For example, the forward-collision warning system will alert you if a potential obstacle is detected up ahead. If you don’t respond quickly enough to this warning, the automatic emergency braking system can kick in and bring your Accord Sport to a stop.

Honda Sensing also features several systems designed to support your highway driving. The adaptive cruise control feature can assess what a safe distance is between your Accord Sport and other motorists up ahead and adjust your speed to maintain this distance. Lane keep assist can make minor adjustments to your steering to help you stay in the correct lane, while lane departure warning will alert you as you approach the side of your lane. The Accord Sport’s automatic high-beam headlights will help you have good visibility whatever the weather outside.

Blind-spot monitoring and a rear cross-traffic alert are the final two features in the Accord Sport’s Sensing package. The rear cross-traffic alert can help you reverse safely out of a parking spot by alerting you to the fact that a vehicle is approaching from the side while you’re moving in reverse. Cars in your blind spot, which is often behind your left shoulder, can be challenging to spot, which is where the blind spot monitor can help.

What is the Accord Sport Special Edition?

The Accord Sport Special Edition could be the right choice for buyers who like the look of the Sport’s interior features but want to add a little more luxury.

The Sport Special Edition replaces the cloth upholstery with genuine leather. You can choose between black and ivory colors for your leather. The Special Edition cabin is also fitted with heated front seats and a power-adjustable passenger’s seat.

In terms of technology, the Special Edition adds a rear-seat alert. This system reminds you to check the rear seat before getting out of your Accord to ensure you haven’t left any kids or pets behind. The Special Edition also gets proximity keyless entry and remote start as standard features. These options are only available in the Accord Sport as part of the optional upgrade with the more powerful engine.
