2024 Honda CR-V Specs
Honda’s CR-V has secured a position at the top of the competitive compact crossover market for several years. For the 2023 edition, Honda redesigned the CR-V, and its changes and upgrades didn’t disappoint. With a longer wheelbase, the CR-V now offers more cabin capacity than its previous fifth-generation version. But how are things looking for the 2024 model? Our Honda experts in Marion, IL have compiled an overview of what’s in store for this small SUV, which we expect to hit our showroom in the fall.
2024 Honda CR-V Engine Specs
Following the example of the 2023 CR-V, the 2024 edition will be available with the same engine throughout the lineup, a 190-horsepower four-cylinder turbocharged unit. This engine is equally at home whether shifting your Honda about town or providing enough power to accelerate swiftly to highway speeds. Honda pairs the engine with a continuously variable transmission, which helps ensure a smooth ride for you and your passengers, and gets the most out of its fuel economy.
The standard front-wheel-drive CR-V achieves 34 mpg on the highway and 28 mpg on city roads. If you opt for all-wheel drive, efficiency drops slightly to 32 mpg and 27 mpg, respectively.
Are you looking for an even more fuel-efficient crossover? If so, you should check out our range of Honda CR-V hybrids, which combine a gas-powered engine with an electric motor to improve your gas mileage. Rumors suggest that Honda could bring out a fuel cell-powered CR-V in 2024, but whether this vehicle would be a new model or integrated with the current CR-V lineup remains unclear.
The Honda CR-V has a solid 1,500-pound towing capacity. And for those of you who find it difficult to imagine what this weight means in practice, you’ll easily be able to haul a teardrop camper or a small trailer at the rear. When calculating your towing capacity, the number of passengers and any rear-end cargo you carry in the CR-V can impact its towing abilities.
Honda CR-V Cargo and Passenger Capacity
The 2024 CR-V is among the best in the compact SUV class for cargo storage space. During Honda’s upgrade for the 2023 model, the lengthening of the wheelbase boosted the area behind the second row of seats to over 39 cubic feet. With the rear row folded flat, you can access an impressive 76.5 cubic feet. This amount of space would allow you to transport large household items without too much trouble. The standard setup features cloth upholstery, but upscale add-ons, such as leather and power-adjustable seats, are available with higher trim levels.
The five seats across two rows have ample space for adults to relax, while the second row has a reclining feature for added comfort during long drives. If you need to install seats for your kids, there are two sets of Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children connectors on the outermost seats in the rear row for you to use.
Honda Infotainment and Safety Tech
The standard infotainment system in the CR-V includes a seven-speaker stereo and a 7-inch touch screen. There’s also a 7-inch digital gauge cluster to help you monitor your CR-V’s performance more easily. Other standard entertainment features include a Wi-Fi hotspot, smartphone compatibility, Amazon Alexa, and Bluetooth. If that’s not quite enough for you, upgrade options include a 9-inch touch screen, an eight-speaker stereo, and wireless device charging. You can also add USB ports for second-row passengers.
When it comes to safety features, the 2024 CR-V is well-equipped. The base model features forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control. You’ll also benefit from the lane-keep assist and lane departure warning to make your highway drives a little more relaxed. The traffic sign recognition feature displays helpful information, like speed limits and other rules. One optional upgrade that could prove useful is front and rear parking sensors, which take some pressure off when parking in a tight spot.
Trims and Pricing for the 2024 CR-V
There are five trim options for the 2023 CR-V, which we expect to remain the same for the coming year. The available trims are LX, EX, EX-L, Sport Hybrid, and Sport Touring Hybrid, and the base starting MSRP for the 2024 CR-V will likely be around $29,000.
The only optional upgrades in the base LX trim are the parking sensors and a heated steering wheel. If you move up to the EX, you get heated front seats, automatic climate control, driver seat power adjustments, and a six-speaker stereo. On top of that, you get the added benefit of proximity keyless entry and a moonroof. Optional upgrades include rear-row USB ports and wireless device charging.
The EX-L is the right choice for drivers who want a luxurious cabin. It features leather upholstery, a power-adjustable passenger seat, and a larger 9-inch infotainment screen. You’ll also have a power liftgate, an eight-speaker stereo, and wireless device charging.
Choosing between the trims may come down to price for some buyers. The range between the base and top trims isn’t as significant as what you’ll find with some vehicle lineups. Although 2024 prices aren’t finalized, we expect the top trim to have an MSRP that’s around $35,000, which is about $6,000 more than the base LX trim. Other drivers may base their choice on available features. The midrange EX trim has a good mix of added infotainment tech if you don’t quite have the budget for the range-topping EX-L.
